Mr. Hern is a graduate of American University in Washington, DC, where he earned a BA in Political Science. He earned a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, order of the coif, from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he served as articles editor of the SMU Law Review.

 

He began his career with firms that are among the largest in the nation, and has represented a wide range of individuals and major corporate clients. He has successfully tried cases to verdict before juries and has prevailed in numerous motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.

 

Mr. Hern is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Criminal Section and Municipal Court Practice Section. He is admitted to the Bars of the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Active in community service, Mr. Hern won election to the New Providence Borough Council in 2004, 2006 and 2009, and, in 2010, won a four-year term as Mayor, and served from 2011 to 2015.
